Safety
Our first priority at Foot Cycles, Inc. is to ensure your child has a safe and enjoyable experience riding their Precycle. As with all childrens' toys, please use caution and common sense to avoid injuries. The Precycles are wheeled toy vehicles and should not be used on any roads or high traffic areas.
- Children must always have direct adult supervision while riding their Precycle.
- Children must wear a CPSC approved helmet while riding (check your government helmet standards if not in the USA).
- A bike shop mechanic or qualified trained adult must assemble the Precycle.
- A supervising adult must ensure all screws and bolts are tight prior to each use; if there is any suspected damage, immediately discontinue use.
- Maximum weight is 70 lbs. (35 kgs.)
Features
The Precycle exceeds the CPSIA standards by implementing the following additional safety precautions:
- Instead of relying on wood screws to hold your bike together which can strip easily and come loose, Precycles are fastened together with screws and nuts that can be torqued tighter.
- Solid disk wheels so that precious little feet don't get stuck in them like they could with spoke laced wheels.
- Intentional limited steering to prevent oversteer and flipping.
- Pneumatic tires for better handling and a more compliant ride.
Compliance
The US Consumer Protection Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) became federal law on August 14, 2008. The primary indications of the law are restrictions on lead in paint and surface coatings, lead contained in component parts of children’s products, a ban on certain phthalate compounds from children’s toys and new testing and certification requirements.
